A full-text BITS XML file consists of different parts. Three type of parts can be distinguished:

General rule is that only parts in category 3 have a separate DOI. These are subsequently numbered, using a three-digit number, starting with 001 for the Preliminary Material as specified in the following table:. 001 is often used for the Preliminary Material.
